He was accused of stealing close to $25,000 and was caught in the summer of 1960 by Federal Bureau of Investigation agents in Las Vegas.

Benjamin Hoskins Paddock, a convicted bank robber and con man described in a wanted poster as "psychopathic" with suicidal tendencies, had escaped from prison in 1969, earning him a spot on the FBI's list of most-sought-after and risky criminals.

Patrick Paddock was arrested on July 28, 1960, in Las Vegas, where he had fled after the bank robbery in Phoenix.

Stephen was also a gun owner.

"Under no circumstances I would've imagine that my brother would do that, shooting people", revealed Eric Paddock. The gunman killed himself before police entered the hotel room from where he was firing, Clark County Sheriff Joseph Lombardo told reporters.

Stephen Paddock's brother, Eric, confirmed their father's identity in an interview Monday with The Orlando Sentinel.

More than 500 others, including two on-duty officers, were injured. Eric believes their mother was the last one to speak with Stephen Paddock.

Eric Paddock knew that his brother possessed some weapons for self-defense, but he had no information about the automatic ones.

The wife of Stephen Paddock, a time desired by the forces of the order, was located "abroad", he said. Prior to that, he is said to have been an auditor, The Telegraph reports. He said that they hadn't spoken in over 10 years.

"We have to establish what his motivation was first", Lombardo said.

He said police were standing by in northern Nevada to search a second house connected to Paddock.

She does not appear to have been involved in the shooting and was in the Philippines when the shooting took place, authorities said.

The suspect had a pilot's license but he was not up to date on his medical certification which he would need in order to fly legally, a federal official said. That information was gleaned from Multiple Currency Transaction Reports, which are required by the US Treasury Department and IRS-mandated when casinos cash-in or out any transactions in excess of $10,000 dollars.
