The incident, that happened on September 24, has been caught on camera and the video is now going viral over the Internet. After being beaten brutally, the man was jailed. The man's legs were also tied with a rope while he was being assaulted.

Contradicting this, the video footage shows that he had been tied to a pole and was thrashed mercilessly even when he pleaded for to stop beating him. Reportedly, the complaint to the police claimed that the thrashed Nigerian national was involved in a theft attempt and he had been injured after a fall from the stairs.

A video has surfaced showing a man, believed to be a Nigerian, tied to a pole and being beaten up with sticks by a group of men after he allegedly attempted to burgle their house in south Delhi's Malviya Nagar.

After the video surfaced, the police said action would be taken against the attackers. The local people, who beat the African students with sticks and other weapons, had accused them of peddling in drugs. A man can be seen holding his feet for people to aim as they mindlessly attack the foreigner.

The latest attacks have raised serious questions of lawlessness in Delhi-NCR.

Malviya Nagar is stone's throw away from Khidki Extension which has seen a series of racial attacks against African nationals in the last few years.
