No injuries or incidents of the cable failing have occurred, Tesla said in a written statement.
The recall only covers vehicles with second-row fold-flat seats that were built between October 28, 2016 and August 16, 2017. The recall affects Model X SUVs built between October 28, 2016 and September 1, 2017. This can prevent the left seat from locking in an upright position and allow the seat to slide forward during a crash.
The Elon Musk-founded automaker says that the Model X problem is the result of cables within the seat that have not been properly tightened.
Tesla began informing customers about the recall Thursday.
