J&K: Pakistan violates ceasefire in Uri sector, one Army porter killed

In a fresh violation of ceasefire by the Pakistan Army on Saturday, a civilian was killed in Uri sector of Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir.

A civilian working as a porter for the Army was killed "when the Pakistani troops resorted to indiscriminate firing, the official said".

While saluting the soldiers guarding the borders, PM had said, "Our forces protect our motherland with utmost valour, displaying highest traditions of sacrifice and dedication".

They said that soon after the ceasefire violation, the Army has started a combing operation in the area. Till reports last came in, heavy exchange of firing and shelling was on.

An 18-year-old resident Nasreena Banoo was injured when a mortar fired from across the LoC landed near her home in Madyan.

Meanwhile, sources said a girl was also injured in the Pakistani firing.

On October 2, two children including a girl were killed and 12 others injured in Pakistani troops mortar shelling in Poonch sector.
