Packers Cut Martellus Bennett With Failure to Disclose Physical Condition Designation

Bennett, who was dealing with a shoulder injury, was released with a "failure to disclose physical condition" designation.

Coincidence or not, that loss to the Minnesota Vikings at U.S. Bank Stadium - Bennett, ironically, was Rodgers' intended receiver on the fateful play and dropped the pass - was the last game Bennett would play for the Packers. That's when Bennett posted on Instagram that he was "pretty sure" the next eight games would be the conclusion of his National Football League career. However, he revealed via his social media during the bye week that he meant to retire following the 2017 season.

Bennett is now dealing with a shoulder injury and head coach Mike McCarthy said the tight end won't play Sunday against the Chicago Bears.

On the field, Bennett struggled to catch the ball and made far less of an impact than was expected from the former Bears and New England Patriots playmaker.

Perhaps the Packers will argue that Bennett wasn't upfront on a number of things during his signing.

Reserve Bank of New Zealand Holds At 1.75% As Expected
Reflecting recent weakness in the currency, it said that tradable inflation has "increased due to the lower New Zealand dollar and higher oil prices".

The Packers can file a grievance to reclaim the $4.2 million in remaining prorated signing bonus money. Bennett practiced on Tuesday after the bye last week before going on the injury report with a shoulder injury. Third-string rookie tight end Jacob Hollister has three receptions for 37 yards.

From the moment Bennett mentioned retirement last month, it essentially finalized how badly the whole Green Bay Packers tight end situation played out in March. They gave him a $6.3 million signing bonus.

The Packers know they'll be without right tackle Bryan Bulaga (knee/out for season) and safety Morgan Burnett (groin) this week, but McCarthy was optimistic about the outlook for backup offensive lineman Justin McCray.

The Packers will look to veterans Lance Kendricks and Richard Rodgers to serve as the top tight ends in their offense moving forward.
