The Amazon Music app has been around for years and has supported connecting to a number of external devices for music playback.
In layman terms, Android device users can communicate with Google Assistant like a normal one-on-one conversation with another person and can continue the conversation as long as they want. This service also sets itself apart from the competition by having a lower monthly fee for Prime Members - $7.99 instead of $9.99 for non-members - so if you don't have any deep loyalty to your current service, it's a good deal.
The feature was first spotted earlier this month by TechHive when it was mid-rollout. It's also not of much interest to Amazon Prime members who already get Amazon Music Unlimited included in their package. Maybe hell will freeze over when Google Home adds native support for Amazon Music as a music provider... or when the Echo lets you choose Play Music as a default provider.
One boon for Amazon Music Unlimited over the likes of, say, Spotify or Google Play, is its integration with Amazon Echo and Alexa voice controls. The two companies have butted heads in the past, the conflict going back as far as two years ago when Amazon removed all Chromecasts from its store.
Until now, Amazon has not supported Google Cast on any of its devices or services, despite arguably being the most popular streaming standard around.
After months of neglect, it looks like Google has finally made its mind to release the Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based Google Assistant to Android tablets. Google has removed YouTube support from other streaming devices in the past, and often those conflicts surround ads either not playing or being removed during playback on those third-party devices.
