  • North Korea 3 US aircraft carriers creating'worst ever situation

The Kaesong Industrial Complex, the industrial park where the two Koreas ran collaborative business models, was shut down on February 10, 2016 by the South Korean government, in response to the North's nuclear and ballistic missile tests. South Korean and Japanese warships have joined them during the exercise.

The Korean Peninsula remains technically at war because the Korean War ended with an armistice, not a peace treaty.

"The North appeared to show a measured response to Trump's visit. There was no threat of military action and the North's insults against Trump seemed to be reduced", Baik Tae-hyun, ministry spokesperson, said at a regular press briefing. The soldier was in serious condition at a South Korean hospital on Wednesday following two rounds of surgeries.

"We sent three of the largest aircraft carriers in the world (to the Korean Peninsula), and a nuclear submarine is also positioned", President Donald Trump said after his arrival last week in South Korea.

The presidency has changed since, from the former Park Geun-hye administration to the incumbent Moon Jae-in's, but the tension is continuing to build up with North's reluctance to denuclearize and come forward for dialogue.

Police shoot vehicle to stop it, killing driver
A 19-year-old man has died in a police officer-involved shooting in Fall River, according to family members. Neither Quinn's office nor Fall River police answered additional questions about the shooting yesterday.

North Korea's foreign ministry on Saturday condemned Trump's trip last Tuesday and Wednesday as a "warmonger's visit for confrontation" to rid the North of its nuclear deterrence. However, it's believed that China's new nuclear point man also has not yet visited North Korea in this role. He then fled across the JSA, with fellow soldiers chasing and firing at him, South Korea's military said, citing unspecified surveillance systems installed in the area.

He has reportedly used it to stay in contact with North Korea's ambassador to the UN, Pak Song-il, in Pyongyang. USA and South Korean forces guarding their side did not return fire.

Joining the three U.S. carriers and their strike groups were three Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force warships including the helicopter destroyer JS Ise, a guided-missile destroyer and general goal destroyer.

Each US aircraft carrier holds more than 60 aircraft, including F/A-18 fighter jets, airborne early warning and control aircraft and helicopters for anti-submarine warfare. USA attack submarines typically accompany United States aircraft carrier strike groups, but the Navy usually keeps their specific locations secret.

The Pentagon said the drill involving three aircraft carrier strike groups in the Western Pacific would be carried out for the first time in a decade.
