When will the highly paid Commissioner finally get tough and smart?

That person said it was "too early to tell" for certain if the change to the anthem policy will be made by owners and the league.

President Trump plunged back into his feud with the NFL on Wednesday, asserting that a proposal to keep players in the locker room during the national anthem would be "almost as bad as kneeling". Removing the platform for the protest is nearly as bad, if not as bad.

Years ago, the players would come out on the field to warm up and then return to the locker room during the national anthem. The second attack likely refers to a report from The Washington Post that claimed that several unnamed owners believe the league will revisit the issue after the conclusion of the season.

President Trump called on the National Football League to fire or suspend any player who protested during the anthem.

Trump tweeted: "It wasn't the White House, it wasn't the State Department, it wasn't father LaVar's so-called people on the ground in China that got his son out of a long term prison sentence - IT WAS ME".

Although the size of the protests have dwindled since then, a few players are still refusing to stand.

The protests began last season when former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick began kneeling during the anthem to call attention to racial inequality.

"Marshawn Lynch of the NFL's Oakland Raiders stands for the Mexican Anthem and sits down to boos for our National Anthem".

The current policy that has players and coaches on the sidelines for the national anthem was implemented in 2009.
