Angelina Jolie Thought Working with Brad Pitt Would Help Their Marriage

In the final years of her relationship with Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie felt that a joint project may have been able to help them work through certain problems.

The couple began their relationship in 2005, just before Mr. and Mrs. Smith was released, and they married in August 2014, after their family had grown to include six children.

She continued: 'It was something that we were dealing. things happen for different reasons, and things. why did I write that exact piece? I thought it would be a good way for us to communicate.

However, Jolie said working on the film with Pitt didn't necessarily bolster communication between them.

"There was a heaviness probably during that situation that carried on and it wasn't because of the film".

It's been the subject of so many endless rumors since they split up a year ago: What caused Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's marriage to fail?

After decades of delivering critically acclaimed performances and even winning an Oscar for her performance in Girl, Interrupted, Jolie set her sights on directing.

The couple made 2015 film By The Sea together, with Angelina also acting as director.

Jolie and Pitt announced their separation in December after two years of marriage and 12 years together.

Jolie, of course, is busy promoting her latest directorial effort, First The Killed My Father, which may very well end up nominated for an Oscar in the foreign film category (it qualifies as a Cambodian production), but she also reveals there was a time she nearly quit Hollywood all together.

The Oscar victor, 42, recently opened up to The Hollywood Reporter's podcast, Awards Chatter, about the "heaviness" that gripped her while filming the drama, which she wrote and directed. Why did we feel that way when we made it?

"Over the span of that decade, I did lose my mother", Jolie revealed. I started to learn more about what was happening, and I became more involved and I learned about refugees and U.N.H.C.R., and I wanted to educate myself further. "Nobody in my life has ever stood by me more".

While the collaboration didn't have the outcome Jolie desired, she said that the former couple did learn from the experience. "We did explore something together", she said.

"By the Sea obviously didn't save the marriage, but she thinks it still allowed them to communicate something that needed to be communicated to each other".

During the same interview, Angie explained that she and Brad as well had a hard time.
