The senators also expressed serious concerns with the White House installing Budget Director Mick Mulvaney as part-time acting director on November 24.

The Lower East Side People's Federal Credit Union lawsuit was filed Tuesday in Manhattan federal court.

Acting Consumer Financial Protection Bureau Director Mick Mulvaney is looking to add more political appointees to the agency's ranks in the near future, pairing them with senior civil servants in areas such as supervision, regulations, and enforcement.

President Trump's handling of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau has thrown financial institutions across the country "into a state of regulatory chaos", a new lawsuit alleges.

Mulvaney has already brought in Brian Johnson, a former aide to House Financial Services Committee Chairman Rep. Jeb Hensarling (R-Texas), to be a senior aide at the bureau. English control of the bureau while the case is litigated.

English is expected to formally file a preliminary injunction against Mulvaney and Trump this week, according to court filings.

Though critics say Trump's actions undermine the intent by Congress to keep the CFPB independent, U.S. District Judge Timothy Kelly in Washington denied English a temporary restraining order, saying the merits of her case had a poor outlook.

During a news briefing at the CFPB on Monday, Mulvaney told reporters he would "absolutely not" consider firing English and that he would like her to continue to serve as deputy director but had not had any direct contact with her.

Tuesday's challenge in NY takes a similar tack, saying that Trump has thrown credit unions and banks across the country "into a state of regulatory chaos".

"This place will be different, under my leadership and under whoever follows me", Mulvaney said.

Directing CFPB staff to examine all investigations and litigation. "The appointment of defendant Mulvaney poses an immediate threat to American consumers, including and especially the Credit Union's vulnerable, low-income membership".
