That interview seemed to lead to Baldwin's tweet on Wednesday night where he wrote, "Now the likes of @iamjohnoliver and @StephenAtHome have flipped that and they are beginning to resemble grand juries".

U.S. TV host John Oliver hit headlines after taking Hoffman to task over 30-year-old allegations of inappropriate behaviour during a NY panel discussion and 20th anniversary screening of his movie Wag the Dog on Monday night (04Dec17).

Is Baldwin's talk show really going to be like the apolitical shows of old, "promotional pit stops for some blithe chit chat"?

"They put up with it more. and now they don't put up with it", Baldwin said in agreement.

Alec Baldwin appears on Megyn Kelly Today on December 7, 2017. "But I don't want to see innocent people get hurt either". Baldwin explained that he wanted to see justice served against those who committed criminal acts.

There's a lot of accusations and no proof yet.

In an appearance Thursday on Megyn Kelly Today, the 30 Rock star said that people like disgraced movie producer Harvey Weinstein deserve to be punished while others, like Hoffman, don't. "They think the people that host most of those shows are perfectly-not only within their rights, but that it's very attractive or very necessary for them to be pressing this cause".

He added, "I mean I want the people who are in the wrong, I want them to be punished, but I don't want to see innocent people get hurt either". The alleged behavior that Hoffman engaged in, for example - he's accused of using sexually explicit language with a film intern who was 17 at the time, and grabbing her buttocks - is inexcusable, no matter what the time period, and shouldn't be dismissed so easily. What's wrong is wrong - and Baldwin is granting too much compassion for abusers in his remarks this week.
