  • Israeli security forces brace for Palestinian ‘Day of Rage

Two rockets launched at Israel from the Gaza Strip triggered air raid alarms in the area of the southern city of Sderot at approximately 7 p.m. local time.

The security situation in Israel and the Palestinian territories is febrile following US President Donald Trump's recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, which Palestinians see as a political and religious red line. Security sources said no rockets fell in Israeli territory.

They added that two other shells were also fired from Gaza, but landed inside the Gaza Strip.

The Israeli Defense Forces issued a statement holding Hamas accountable for the attack, as Israel considers the group responsible for any actions coming from Gaza.

The ministry said that the reopening of the crossing will be dependent upon situational assessments.
