Former Detroit Tigers shortstop and manager Alan Trammell was elected into the National Baseball Hall of Fame at the MLB winter meetings Sunday in Orlando, as was former Tigers pitcher Jack Morris.
Morris was the winningest pitcher in the 1980s and earned World Series titles with the Tigers, Twins and Blue Jays. His 10-inning, 1-0 shutout in Game 7 of the 1991 World Series for the Twins against Atlanta is one of the most memorable single-game performances in sports history. Over the course of his 20-year career, he batted.285/.352/.415 with 185 home runs, 1,003 RBIs and 236 stolen bases.
Morris won 20 or more games on three occasions.
The National Baseball Hall of Fame will induct at least two new members next summer. He was a six-time All-Star with four AL Gold Glove Awards, three AL Silver Slugger Awards and was named the World Series Most Valuable Player in 1984.

The 62-year-old Morris, a three-time 20-game victor who also pitched for the Detroit Tigers, Toronto Blue Jays and Cleveland Indians, becomes the seventh former Twin to achieve Cooperstown recognition. Though he never received more than 40.9% of the vote in his 15 years on the BBWAA ballot - well short of the 75% required for election - Trammell's numbers compare favorably to shortstops inducted in the past, like Ozzie Guillen and Barry Larkin. It came in his only season in Minnesota; he signed a one-year contract with the Twins as a free agent, then left in 1992 to pitch for the Blue Jays.
Morris ended his professional career with a brief stint playing independent-league ball for the St. Paul Saints in 1995. Falling shy of that mark were fellow finalists Steve Garvey, Tommy John, Don Mattingly, Dale Murphy, Dave Parker and Luis Tiant.
