Google is celebrating what would have been the 135th birthday of German physicist and mathematician Max Born with a new Doodle. The physicist and mathematician's contribution in quantum mechanics is hard to explain in words. Quantum mechanics have helped in the advancement of several technologies like personal computers, lasers, and medical imaging devices (MRI) to other game-changing technologies.

Max Born won the Nobel Prize in physics in 1954 for what is now known as the "Born Rule".

Following his retirement in 1954, Max Born and Margarete his wife, returned to Germany and he settled in the spa town of Bad Pyrmont. Since childhood, he was an exceptional student. After completing Ph.D. from Göttingen University, Max Born became a professor of theoretical physics. However, with the growth of Nazism in Germany, Born was forced to flee Germany for England in 1933. In Britain, Born worked at the University of Edinburgh as a Tait Professor of Natural Philosophy and continued to hold onto his post till he retired in 1954.

Dr Born created the Born Rule, which is a quantum theory that applies mathematical probability to predict where wave particles are located.

The Born rule provides a link between the mathematical formalism of quantum theory and experiment, and as such is nearly single-handedly responsible for practically all predictions of quantum physics, according to N.P. Landsman, Institute for Mathematics, Astrophysics, and Particle Physics, Radboud University Nijmegen. Born said that all you really needed was a matrix (a group of numbers lined up in columns and rows) and the rules of probability.

Born's theory revolutionized the basis of quantum mechanics predictions and ultimately transformed technology as we know it today. In 1915, Dr Born joined the German Armed Forces where he worked on the theory of sound ranging and where he studied the theory of crystals. Dr Born received an astounding number of fellowships from many academies, including but not limited to Moscow, Berlin, Gottingen, London, Edinburgh, Dublin, Bangalore, Washington and Boston.
