  • Samsung Galaxy S9 might come with improved Iris Scanner

Samsung is hoping to offer an improved version of its iris-scanning technology with next year's Galaxy S9 smartphone, according to a new report.

It doesn't look like Samsung will be able to replicate the iPhone X's Face ID feature in time for the Galaxy S9 launch, but the company has been working on making the iris scanner faster.

The upcoming Samsung Galaxy S9 to offer an nearly bezel-less design with single 12 MP camera with F/1.5 aperture and 1.4 microns pixel.

This year's Galaxy Note 8 featured an iris scanner, and it was generally regarded as a great success.

"The iris camera lens will be improved to 3 megapixels from 2 megapixels of Galaxy S8 and Galaxy Note 8 to capture clearer images". Users wearing glasses too shouldn't have much of an effect on the working on the S9's iris scanner, nor if the user isn't directly looking at the scanner or even if his or her eyes is gazing around. The same 6.0-inch Super AMOLED display with improved colour accuracy and HDR capability is expected on the Samsung Galaxy S9.

The manual also mentions a dual selfie camera, which would make this the first Samsung smartphone with a dual front-facing camera.

Separately from Samsung Pay, Samsung also partnered with several local banks, including Shinhan, Woori, IBK, NH and Busan, to make their mobile banking transactions on premium Galaxy series through biometric verification. It will still, therefore, be slower than using a fingerprint scanner, but will be noticably quicker than before.

One more thing about the Samsung Galaxy S9 is the camera.

Concerns still remain among consumers as a series of reports on hacking the biometric system follow every time a new smartphone biometric system is unveiled.
