  • Takata recalls 3.3 million more defective airbags

It's all part of the largest automotive recall in USA history and it just keeps getting bigger and bigger.

The recall included frontal air bags in some 2009, 2010 and 2013 vehicles made by Honda, Toyota, Audi, BMW, Daimler Vans, Fiat Chrystler, Ford, General Motors, Juaguar-Land Rover, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Subaru and Tesla, according to CBS.

Bankrupt auto parts supplier Takata Corp. has recalled an additional 3.3 million potentially deadly airbag inflators, as the largest USA automotive recall gets even bigger. About 65 million inflators are set to be recalled by the end of 2018 under a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration plan to replace the parts in phases, scheduling the riskiest parts for fix first.

Takata uses the chemical ammonium nitrate to create a small explosion and fill air bags quickly in a crash.

The fed-up Green even proposed that the National Basketball Association should start fresh at the officiating position. Technical fouls are largely a judgment call from the refs, and Draymond feels he's being treated unfairly.

All told, the NHTSA reports that approximately 46 million defective Takata air bags are on the road, and they can explode when the air bag deploys, causing serious injury or even death. But the chemical can deteriorate when exposed to high humidity and temperatures and burn too fast, blowing apart a metal canister.

High schooler Huma Hanif was one of those killed by faulty Takata airbags, most in the U.S.

Visit the NHTSA website to sign up for updates and check the list of makes, models and model years of affected vehicles. The tally now stands at approximately 34 million vehicles, making it the largest wave of recalls in US history.

Since the recall began, Takata has filed for bankruptcy, been fined $1 billion, and three executives have been convicted for falsifying data. While Takata says only vehicles with prolonged exposure to hot and humid conditions are affected, all cars with the faulty inflators are subject to recalls.
