Ford 'sued by truck owners in US' over diesel emissions

Ford's F-250 and F-350 Super Duty diesel pickups, part of the top-selling F-Series, are allegedly releasing emissions for nitrogen oxide (NOx) pollutants far in excess of the legal limit.
Those accusations have resulted in a lawsuit being filed by the law firm Hagens Berman on behalf of Super Duty owners.
A US law firm accused Ford Motor Company (NYSE: F) of cheating emissions tests by rigging its F-250 and F-350 Super Duty trucks to ensure they passed tests.
The suit, which claims Ford's Super Duty trucks can pollute up to 50 times more than allowed, comes just after the company announced it would offer a smaller 3.0-liter V6 diesel in its F-150 and just before this year's North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
Cowen Reaffirms Buy Rating for Pepsico (PEP)
After $0.89 actual EPS reported by VeriSign, Inc. for the previous quarter, Wall Street now forecasts 0.00% EPS growth. The Michigan-based Ally Incorporated has invested 0.53% in Pepsico, Inc. (NASDAQ:PEP) rating on Tuesday, July 11.
The complaint states Ford violated 58 state consumer, advertising, trade and federal collusion laws and "concealed and suppressed material facts". A defeat device is software created to fool emissions tests by allowing a vehicle to boost its performance, but pollute substantially more in real-world driving. "Ford not only cheated emissions in these trucks, but cheated consumers as well, playing up promises it couldn't keep".
Erik Gordon, an expert in entrepreneurship and technology at the University of Michigan's Ross School of Business, said that if true, the "allegations would expose Ford to the risk of billion-dollar liabilities and punch a hole in its attempts to position itself as a vehicle technology leader". The complaint details allegations that Ford and Bosch crafted software that treats real-world applications differently than tests conducted by both the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and California Air Resources Board (CARB).
Reuters is reporting that Ford considers the accusation to be false, stating there are no defeat devices in its Power Stroke diesel engines.
In a statement Wednesday, Bosch said allegations against the company "remain the subject of investigations and civil litigation" and it takes allegations of diesel software manipulation "very seriously".
