West Brom's Jake Livermore to avoid FA action for fan confrontation

  • Jake Livermore was taunted about the death of his son after being subbed against West Ham

It's not often that common sense prevails when it comes to The FA, but it would appear they've bucked the trend regarding West Brom midfielder Jake Livermore and his angry confrontation with a West Ham fan when the two sides met at the Olympic Stadium on 2nd January.

Jake Livermore confronted a West Ham supporter during a Premier League game.

While being substituted in the second half of the Baggies' 2-1 defeat at the London Stadium, Livermore was taunted over the death of his baby son.

West Ham, meanwhile, have also avoided FA action after the club identified the supporter connected with the incident with Livermore.

The 28-year-old former Tottenham player jumped across an advertising barrier before attempting to confront an individual in the East Stand who, it was claimed by Livermore, had made a comment regarding his drug use following the loss of his baby son.

Baylor's Matt Rhule interviewed for Colts' head coaching job
Rhule just finished his first season at Baylor, with a 1-11 record in the wake of the mess Art Briles left behind. He was an assistant at Temple from 2006-2011, then became the program's head coach from 2013-2016.

West Ham said in a statement earlier this month that they would issue a life ban to the supporter who abused Livermore.

The Enfield-born player tested positive for cocaine while at Hull City in 2015, nearly a year after his son's death.

He escaped a ban because of his unique personal circumstances after the death of his newborn son, Jake, during childbirth.

The FA have spoken to the London club and will leave the investigation in their hands, satisfied with their approach, and have written to Livermore to remind him of his responsibilities.
