Top Trump aides knew of abuse allegations

"There's no tolerance in this White House, and no place in America for domestic abuse", Vice President Mike Pence told NBC News' Lester Holt, from whatever alternate universe Pence is living in.

Trump's insensitive tweet comes after two members of his staff were pushed out this week over abuse claims made by ex-wives, all within two days of each other.

Trump said Friday that he was "surprised" by the claims against Porter, but he praised the former top staffer for his time working in the administration. But White House officials said Kelly pushed Porter to stay in the job even after the release of the photos.

The White House has faced a firestorm of criticism over its handling of the allegations and its response to them. Porter's second wife detailed in interviews how Porter physically grabbed her during an argument, and later sought a restraining order against him. Porter has denied the allegations.

The White House's public posture Thursday stood in stark contrast to the defensive approach it took when the accusations against Porter by his two ex-wives were first published Tuesday.

Rather served as White House correspondent for CBS News during President Richard Nixon's Watergate era and covered four more presidents while anchoring the evening news.

He said the White House official was "terminated" on Wednesday, although Porter been seen on the property earlier in the day, as he drove a full-scale defense of the White House's initial reaction to a pair of Daily Mail reports on the staff secretary's past.

He will be so greatly missed by his Gorfaine/Schwartz family as well as the entire film music community". His composition for the 2016 release Arrival brought him Golden Globe, BAFTA and Grammy nominations.

Reuters has not independently confirmed the allegations against Porter, or against Trump. Kelly told reporters on Friday that he was informed in November that Porter had allegations against him that were delaying his security clearance, but that he did not know the full extent until this week, MSNBC said. Porter, saying on Friday, "He did a very good job when he was in the White House, and we wish him well".

"They're not only untrue, but they have no evidence to support them", Moore said despite the fact that several of the women told people of their encounters with him as they were happening.

But Trump's Saturday tweet is even more dismissive about the accusations against Porter than other White House officials have been. "Of course, Rob Porter's denying them, so at this point it's a dispute better handled for a court of law", McEnany said Saturday.

Speechwriter David Sorensen resigned after Jessica Corbett alleged she was the victim of domestic violence during their two-and-a-half-year marriage.

Trump confidant and former campaign manager Corey Lewandowski - who was formerly romantically involved with Hicks - pointed a finger of blame at former Marine corps general Kelly. Now he also, as you probably know, he says that he's innocent. Holderness, a 37-year-old senior analyst at the U.S. Government Accountability Office, said she provided photos of the black eye she said he delivered during a 2005 vacation in Florence, Italy.

Trump himself has been accused by at least 16 women of misconduct ranging from sexual assault to harassment to inappropriate behavior, claims that he has adamantly denied. His position did not require security clearance and his background check hadn't been completed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, administration officials said. "We immediately confronted the staffer, he denied the allegations and he resigned today".

Did Mr. Porter ever receive classified material while holding an interim security clearance?
