  • The nerve agent used to poison Sergei and Yulia Skripal was delivered in a liquid form More

"Mr. Skripal and his daughter were poisoned with a military-grade nerve agent of a type developed by Russian Federation", specifically from the Novichok group, British Prime Minister Theresa May said following an immediate assessment by British experts.

Specialists investigating the incident have found the highest confrontation of the military-grade agent on the front door of Mr Sergei's Salisbury home.

Earlier Britain's top military laboratory the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (DSTL) at Porton Down ascertained that the toxic agent used to poison Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia was the chemical nerve agent Novichok developed in the former USSR and Russian Federation.

He said only Russian Federation has the "technical means, operational experience and the motive" for the attack.

Perhaps the most explosive claim in his dossier was that Russian security services had hacked Yulia Skripal's email accounts for at least five years before she and her father were found slumped on a park bench in Salisbury.

Russian hackers are preparing the release of "embarrassing information" on British MPs, ministers and other high-ranking politicians, including Prime Minister Theresa May.

"As for "intelligence", it should be remembered that the United Kingdom has a vast record of misleading the government and the public, which entailed catastrophic consequences", the embassy said.

At the same time, Russian Federation stepped up demands for diplomatic access to Skripal, who remains hospitalized, and his daughter, who is continuing her recovery in an undisclosed location after having been released from a hospital. It is unlikely that Novichoks could be made and deployed by non-state actors (e.g. a criminal or terrorist group), especially at the level of purity confirmed by the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons'. The alleged hackers' attack is described as retaliation against London accusing Moscow of being involved in the Skripal case.

The analyses thus confirm that neurotoxic used in attack on Russian ex-spy Sergey Skripal and his daughter was produced in Russia, although in two-page communiqué name of that country does not appear.

The letter revealed that Russia's chemical weapons programme continued after the collapse of the Soviet Union. Russia's ambassador to Britain, Alexander Yakovenko, identified the poison as Novichok A-234, derived from an earlier version known as A-232.

Sergei Skripal remains seriously ill in hospital.

"I find myself in a totally different life than the ordinary one I left just over a month ago, and I am seeking to come to terms with my prospects, whilst also recovering from this attack on me", she said.
