  • Armenia ruling coalition formally nominates ex-president Sargsyan's candidacy as next PM

Recall that in recent days Armenia has seen various protest actions against the appointment of former President Serzh Sargsyan as prime minister, accompanied by clashes with the police.

"Our goal right now is to prevent Serzh Sarkisian from becoming the country's leader for a third time without violence and the use of force", said opposition leader Nikol Pashinian who led the protesters.

The ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) announced on Saturday, April 14 that they have made a decision to nominate former president Serzh Sargsyan for the post of the prime minister of the country.

There were media reports that Tuesday's NA special session to elect the PM would not be convened in the parliament building.
