  • 6 Pakistani troops' killed in Afghanistan border clash

Local sources said that the attack was carried out from Khost province on a border post in the Laka Tigga area of Lower Kurram Agency.

"Pakistani troops are exercising maximum restraint so as to avoid any Afghan civilian casualties", ISPR said, adding that five soldiers were wounded in the attack.

The ISPR added that the security personnel were plugging the gaps at the border and making necessary preparations to start fencing in that area to stop unwanted infiltration from the Afghanistan side.

Schalke go four clear of Dortmund
Konoplyanka broke the deadlock five minutes after the break after a mistake from Marcel Schmelzer. The loss for Dortmund sees them drop to fourth place on the table.

The bodies of the two Pakistanis were found on the Afghan side of the border near Pakistan's tribal belt, Zadran told AFP.

Abdul Hanan, the acting provincial police chief in Khost, told RFE/RL that clashes broke out in three locations along the border in the early hours of the day after Pakistani paramilitary troops ignored repeated warnings from locals and Afghan border police officers and crossed the border. Clashes are still underway, Col Hanan said.

He confirmed that a civilian was killed and two Pakistani guards were arrested. Clashes are frequent in the area as Afghanistan doesn't recognize the 2,400-kilometer Durand Line (drawn by Britain in 1896) as its worldwide border with Pakistan. Afghanistan, in turn, accuses Islamabad of sheltering the leadership of the Afghan Taliban militants who are battling the Western-backed government in Kabul. It was further emphasised that cooperation from Afghan side for effective border management was important for preventing cross-border movement of terrorists and militants.
