The Rohingya in Delhi have nowhere to go.

Locals also helped fire officials in dousing the fire. "Three cooking gas cylinders also exploded during the rescue operation", a police officer said. "It took nearly four hours to douse the fire in the camp where the families reside". No casualty was reported, however, one of the residents sustained burn injuries.

A preliminary probe revealed that the fire began in a toilet in the far left corner of the plot, where over 47 families live. As many as 44 shanties were gutted in the blaze. They have been provided with tents and mosquito nets. Syed Hussain, 35, said they had just enough time to wake up their children and family members. The camp, established in 2012 at Madanpur Khadar area of Kalindi Kunj, has seen four incidents of fire since - in 2012, 2016, 2017 and now in 2018.

Locals claimed the camp, housing nearly 100 women and 50 children, doesn't have sufficient firefighting equipment despite this being the fourth fire in the six years since the camp came into existence. "Apart from that, there is nothing else to tackle such situations", Karimullah, a camp resident, claimed.

"We were told to vacate our houses by the police patrolling team, and within seconds of leaving the house the only shelter on our head was engulfed in the flames", said Mohammad Atif, a resident at the camp. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, the police said, however, it suggested that fire could have broken out from a nearby office building of the refugee camp.
