More than 20% of the money spent by President Donald Trump's 2020 re-election campaign this year has gone to legal fees, according to Federal Election Commission reports filed Sunday. The campaign has also paid Parscale Strategy, the firm run by the 2020 reelection campaign manager Brad Parscale, almost $1.7 million so far this year.

The Trump campaign spent about $3.9 million in the first quarter of 2018, the report said, with nearly $835,000 going to eight law firms and the Trump Corp.

The campaign paid two firms that are representing Michael Cohen, Trump's personal attorney, in the lawsuit over a nondisclosure agreement with an adult entertainment star who claims she had an affair with Trump in 2006.

The Trump campaign paid another $13,500 to McDermott Will & Emery, a firm that represents Cohen in the ongoing Russian Federation investigations and a newly revealed criminal inquiry.

About $835,000 in payments for "legal consulting" were made to eight firms and the Trump Corporation, with the most - $347,000 - going to Jones Day. That was a sharp drop from the previous quarter, when the campaign paid the firm almost $215,000.

Americans have two extra days to file their income taxes this year
If a taxpayer is requiring more time to file taxes, they can apply for a 6-month extension by filling out Form 204 by Tuesday. Thanks to the calendar and a law that prohibits tax deadlines from being on holidays, you have two extra days to file.

The consulting firm for Trump campaign manager Brad Parscale was the largest single recipient of campaign cash - totaling one-point-seven million dollars for digital and advertising services.

Prosecutors said in a Friday court hearing that Cohen has been the target of a months-long federal investigation in NY, separate from Special Counsel Robert Mueller's probe of Russian interference in the US elections.

That was a big increase over the last quarter of 2017, when the three committees together raised $12.5 million.

It's unusual for a sitting president to raise money for re-election early in his term as aggressively as Trump has done. In first quarter of 2018, 61 percent of the direct contributions to his campaign committee came from donations of $200 or less. Former President George W. Bush raised $268,423 in his first two years in office, FEC records show. Trump will stand for re-election in November 2020.

Trump's campaign also paid $93,181 to Harder LLP, which specializes in entertainment law and reputation protection. McEntee was recently forced out of the White House after security issues related to gambling and was then quickly hired by the campaign.
