  • Syrian regime claims to have shot down more missiles over two air bases

Hezbollah's AlManar TV reported that six missiles targeted Shayrat and three were aimed at Dumair military airport outside Homs on Monday.

Syrian air defence shot down missiles over the central province of Homs, the state news agency said on Tuesday with the strikes reportedly targeting regime air bases.

The missiles targeted the Shayrat airbase in Homs, state news agency SANA and the War Media, the media wing of the Syrian army and its allies, reported.

State television showed pictures of a missile that was shot in the air above the air base only days after a US, British and French attack onSyrian targets in retaliation for a suspected chemical attack on the city of Douma on the outskirts of Damascus.

Meanwhile, Russia says it will help secure visit of global chemical weapons inspectors to site of an alleged attack in Syria.

Saturday's strike: The US, France and the United Kingdom launched airstrikes against Syrian government targets on Saturday in response to an alleged chemical weapons attack by the government on civilians in Douma city near Damascus. Social media reports are pointing the finger at Israel for the strikes.

Following reports of the missile strikes on April 16, the Israeli military declined to comment.

Israel has previously carried out air strikes during the conflict in Syria, targeting Iran-backed militias fighting alongside the forces of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. Israel did not confirm or deny mounting the raid.
