Colin Graves: 'Youngsters not attracted to cricket, that's why 100 ball idea'

16 May, 2018, 14:02 | Author: Heidi Alvarez

Planned to start in the summer of 2020, the "Hundred" will be a men's and women's competition featuring eight city-based teams who will each face 100 balls in their innings.

As revealed last week by Sportsmail, Surrey offered to host an experimental 100-ball match at The Oval in September; almost three weeks on, the European Central Bank are yet to respond.

"It is not attracting the audiences. if it was we would not have that issue", Graves said.

Colin Graves, the chairman of the European Central Bank, warned Surrey in an interview with Telegraph Sport this week that he is willing to strip them of hosting rights unless they throw their support behind the controversial new tournament. That younger generation wants something different. We are not getting them to watch our existing products so we know there is a gap in the marketplace and we know that, when we get that product right, it will attract a new audience... They want it more exciting; they want it shorter; simpler to understand'. Despite this Graves was defiant that the 100-ball concept will work but admits there is "work to do".

'Click It or Ticket' Seat Belt Enforcement Begins
In 2017, 42 percent of automobile fatalities in North Carolina were drivers or passengers who were not wearing their seat belt . North Carolina law requires drivers and passengers to be properly restrained by using a seat belt .

Colin Graves also claimed the radical new format was needed because young people are "just not attracted to cricket".

European Central Bank chairman Colin Graves has indicated that the controversial Hundred tournament will definitely go ahead, although dates and venues have not yet been finalised.

"We'll build it and we'll work with the players because we want them to be involved". And the ECB's attempts to get their message across have been laughable.
