OIC to hold emergency meeting over Palestine in Istanbul

Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildrim has invited Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi to participate in an extraordinary session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) convened by Turkey on Friday in Istanbul.
The meeting will take place on May 18, government spokesman and Deputy Prime Minister Bekir Bozdag announced.
According to a diplomatic source, this incident has been discussed between Pakistan and Turkey's prime ministers and both the countries will soon make diplomatic contact with all the key countries over the matter.
The organisation -which comprises 57 member nations- has issued a statement about the Friday's extraordinary summit, reading it will be held at the invitation of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, "the chairman of the 13th session of the Islamic Summit Conference".
Erdoğan's phone call with Indonesian President Joko Widodo, Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir came after at least 62 Palestinian demonstrators were martyred and hundreds injured by cross-border Israeli gunfire on Monday.
