Now you can, thanks to AirFly - a tiny device that connects wireless headphones to wired-audio jacks on planes, in fitness centers and anywhere else wired headphones were previously required.

However the folks at Twelve South are hoping to change that with the launch of the AirFly.

The AirFly is a compact gadget that features a 3.5mm jack for plugging in to the gear of your choice and a USB port for recharging.

Twelve South Intros AirFly Bluetooth to 3.5mm for AirPods

For anybody who flies a lot and loves their AirPods - or any other wireless headphone - this little dongle could be a game changer, and your new favorite travel essential. It runs for eight hours in between charges and you can top it up with a microUSB cable. These can be nice, but they don't offer the same compact and easily portable package as the AirFly, and they're also on the pricey side. And if you favor true wireless earbuds, like AirPods, there's no "get-out-of-jail" wire so you're basically forced to use the cheap wired earphones that the airplane gives you (or makes you purchase).

We'll be testing AirFly ourselves and will let you know how it performs.

AirFly retails for $39.99 Dollars and is available from Amazon.com and Twelve South's website. If you're having trouble getting your AirPods to pair, take a look at our guide showing how to fix the most common AirPods problems.
