Arsenal are interested in signing OGC Nice midfield Jean-Michael Seri, but the Ivorian may well prefer a move to the Gunners' Premier League rivals.

Arsenal are believed to already be in contact with Seri's representatives ahead of a potential move to the Emirates.

The Daily Mirror is reporting that the Gunners are interested in a potential deal to sign the Ivory Coast global at the end of the 2017-18 season. Sanllehi rates Seri highly and almost signed him for Barcelona last summer. He is expected to cost £40million in the transfer market. The last piece of information has been reported by the Daily Mirror in their latest report.

There stays an uncertainty over the managerial positions at each Chelsea and Arsenal which might play a component in any negotiations.

Barcelona also attempted to lure Seri to the Nou Camp last summer but a deal could not be struck and he remained with Lucien Favre's side.

Antonio Conte's future is up in the air after an underwhelming title defence, though the Stamford Bridge club still have the opportunity to finish the campaign with some silverware in the FA Cup final against Manchester United this Saturday.

Meanwhile, Arsenal have been heavily linked with a move for their former player Mikel Arteta. Part of this overhaul is likely to see Jack Wilshere move away from the North London club, which would open up a slot in midfield, making Seri a viable target to replace the Englishman.
