"We've received some awful news that former National defender and Ex-Aston Villa and Bolton Wanderers player Jlloyd Samuel died in a auto crash this morning in England", read a statement from the Trinidad and Tobago FA.

The 37-year-old, who was a Trinidad and Tobago global died on the spot after his Range Rover collided with a van in High Legh near Lymm.

Villa have confirmed they will wear black armbands during the second leg of their Championship play-off semi-final against Middlesbrough on Tuesday.

The family of former Premier League footballer Jlloyd Samuel have paid tribute to him after he died in the collision in High Legh, Cheshire.

In a statement issued on Wednesday via Cheshire Police, the father-of-four's family said: "Jlloyd was a loving son, father, husband and brother".
