Resolutions against Sharif have also been brought in the country's three provincial assemblies demanding registration of a treason case against him for his controversial remarks on the 2008 Mumbai attacks.

According to sources, PTI Chairperson Imran Khan will preside over the meeting where lawmakers from both the houses - Senate and National Assembly - will be present. After the meeting PM Shahid Khaqan Abbasi had said media had misreported Nawaz Sharif's statement.

The lawmakers also said the statement has intensified the clash between the state institutions.

They also expressed reservations over Nawaz Sharif's recent presser against chairman of National Accountability Bureau during which he demanded his resignation over an inquiry that he had allegedly laundered money to India.

"The statement by the former premier benefited India and appeared prejudiced towards the state's safety and the interests, and that apparently Sharif is guilty of high treason as well as offences punishable in terms of the Official Secret Act, 1923 for which he deserves to be proceeded in accordance with law", the petitioners said.

The PML-N president promised to take their grievances to party quaid Nawaz Sharif. They questioned if disgruntled leader Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan was still a member of the party.
