Users can write, search, delete, and archive messages even when they have no connectivity to the Network, all changes are synchronized with the online service when you restore the Internet connection. "Nudging is on by default for users with the new Gmail enabled, but they can turn it off from their Gmail settings menu if they choose". Last week during Google I/O offline mode was officially available for Gmail users. The storage section will show how much space you are using for the offline mail on the computer.

This new functionality, which I found out about thanks to 9to5Google-I don't believe there's an official announcement-marks the first time that Gmail has natively support offline usage. Once the necessary details are filled, all the users need to do is click on the Save Changes option at the bottom of the page. Using Gmail offline can help those who travel regularly or do not have regular access to an internet connection.

Go to Gmail offline settings.

Before you go all-in on offline mode, there are a few limitations you should know about.

You can find this option by opening the Chrome Settings menu, scrolling down to Advanced, and then clicking on the Clear Browsing Data menu item. Note that this is only available for the web version of Gmail and it is unclear if there are plans to bring a similar feature to mobile in the future.
