Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has denied claims that the killings in Benue were the outcome of a planned agenda to eliminate the people.

Osinbajo, who is in Benue on a two-day working visit, stated this on Tuesday while inspecting Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camps at Abagena, Daub in Makurdi and Guma Local Government Councils of the state.

The Federal Government has approved the sum of N10 billion for the rebuilding of Benue and other states in the country that were destroyed as a result of insurgencies and Fulani invasions.

He said "All of these must be funded; so, the President approved some money at the Food Security Council to rebuild where there have been destruction in the country including Benue".

He said the anger and disappointment expressed by the people at the meeting was "right and justified" but assured that government was committed to providing security for their protection.

"Mr. President now wants to do three things: to provide security especially in the affected communities, to ensure that our people can go back to their homes and before then rebuild their homes, and to restore the farms, support traders and ensure the education of the children".
