OK, I guess when the first player hangs back to protest the anthem or get his ankles re-wrapped - because unless the player publicly says the reason, we won't know - I'll have to amp my outrage back up to 11.

Seattle Seahawks wideout Doug Baldwin also had a strong reaction to the president's comments.

Kerr's referring to the president's inflammatory comments from last September, when he asked attendees at a rally in Alabama if they'd "love to see one of these National Football League owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, to say, 'Get that son of a bitch off the field right now, out, he's fired.'" That sparked a new round of demonstrations from National Football League players and teams, and helped make the topic of protests during the anthem - not necessarily of the reasons the players were protesting, mind you, but the matter of whether players who did so were being "insufficiently patriotic" and "disrespecting the flag" - into a season-long issue.

But, theoretically, teams could punish their own players in any number of ways-including the issuing of their own fines-for violating the new NFL national anthem policy.

And that led to Baldwin being asked about Trump's comment following the team's Organized Team Activity workout.

"He's an idiot", Baldwin said to reporters. He's just being more divisive, which is not surprising. It is what it is.

"But you know for him to say that anybody who doesn't follow his viewpoints or his constituents' viewpoints should be kicked out of the country, it's not very empathetic", he added, "it's not very American-like".

"The league's new policy is not only offensive, it's contradictory", the petition states.

Brown's treatment epitomizes why Colin Kaepernick first began to silently sit and kneel during the anthem to protest social injustices and police abuses that fly in the face of what the flag represents. "I think every league needs rules to cover every situation". And again saying that we would be coming to an amicable relationship in working towards the thing that we wanted to see and I felt personally in doing so you would see the demonstrations subside and this conversation subside as it pertains to the NFL.

"Pretty much, " Wilson said. "I don't think that is a sign of disrespect. It seems that way".

"I will not let it silence me or stop me from fighting", he said.

Last season I had written in a post that the players protest was well intended, but misdirected at the flag, risking being misconstrued, misrepresented and hijacked by the likes of Trump, and that's what has happened. "It was discussed as a team and agreed upon as a team", Cearns said in an email to The Associated Press. I'm all for anything that allows me to avoid thinking critically about how people different than me view particular issues in my country. So I'm looking for new empathy, and I'm going to keep saying it and keep talking about it, because that's going to give us a chance to move forward together better than we're doing right now. "So we've got time to kind of brainstorm some ideas on how we could stand for justice and what we can do". "But right now, we don't play a game until August, and that's when it's going to be applicable in football stadiums. They weren't disrespecting the flag or the military".

"NFL players have tremendous power to use their platform to help make a positive impact on their communities", Rooney said.

"This place is going to stand up, our guys are going to continue to stand up and do what we need to do, " Carroll said.

"I feel like it might make people rebel, " he said.

Football fans and non-football fans love America because it is a land of freedom. However, players are given the option of staying in the locker room during the national anthem, without facing the possibility of fines. I stood. However, I'm sitting here telling you that I'm disappointed in the NFL's policy.
