  • Ramos reacts to criticism after injury to Salah

Egypt forward Mohamed Salah says he is "confident" of being fit for the World Cup after hurting his shoulder playing for Liverpool in the Champions League final.

There was nothing that the German could do about Madrid's second goal - a world-class bicycle kick from Gareth Bale - but sandwiched between that stunner were two moments Karius will never forget.

That put Madrid 2-1 up and Bale wrapped up his club's third successive Champions League title when his powerful long-range effort was spilled into the net by Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius.

This was not to be Salah's night, with Real allowing Zinedine Zidane to become the first coach ever to win the Champions League three years in a row.

Karius broke down in tears at the final whistle, admitted his mistakes and made a heartfelt apology to fans for letting them and the team down.

On Saturday, Salah's club manager Jurgen Klopp had earlier said the player is doubtful for next month's World Cup after suffering a shoulder injury.

The Liverpool player wrote: "It was a very tough night, but I'm a fighter".

Ronaldo casts doubt over Real Madrid future
Enter Gareth Bale , perhaps Southampton's most renowned academy graduate to face off other ex-Southampton players. We created a few possibilities to score a goal, but I think after the injury of Mo it was really hard for us.

Real have earmarked the Egyptian as a potential replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo.

"Thank you to our unbelievable fans who came to Kiev and held my back, even after the game". I feel sorry for my team.

"It was a big blow for the team, but we still managed to go to half-time at 0-0".

"As I said I'd just like to turn back the time but that's not possible".

Salah's injury, and that which forced Real's Dani Carvajal off before the break, temporarily took the sting out of the game after an enthralling start, with Liverpool on top.

Speaking yesterday, Ronaldo dropped a major hint he was set to leave the club by saying: "In the next few days I will give an answer to the fans that have always been on my side". The force takes social media posts of this nature extremely seriously and any offences identified will be investigated.

Several people reported the tweets to Merseyside Police, who said they were "aware of these messages and making further enquiries".
