A Minnesota newspaper has pulled a paid obituary from its website that detailed the deceased woman's affair and accused her of abandoning her children. The pair Wednesday at St. Anne's, a Catholic Church in the heart of the small community, and they had two children, Gina and Jay.

"She abandoned her children, Gina and Jay, who were then raised by her parents in Clements, Mr and Mrs Joseph Schunk".

And the slicing message, which claimed she had deserted them after getting pregnant by her husband's brother, mentioned: "The world is a greater place with out her".

The final paragraph offers her children's final farewell: "She passed away on May 31, 2018, in Springfield and will now face judgement".

Speaking exclusively to DailyMail.com Army veteran and former professional boxer Jay Dehmalo, 58, explained why he and his older sister, Gina, 60, had felt moved to publish such an obituary.

Jay Dehmalo said most people "have no idea what we went through, and back then. nobody talked about anything".

It's not gone down well with everyone in the family though, especially Kathleen's sister Judy, who branded it "nasty" adding that it "hurt the family tremendously". "We edit with a very light hand, we truly believe the philosophy that this is a family's memorial, this is how they tributize their loved one and we don't want to be telling them how to do that", said Devlyn Brooks, Forum Communication's Obits and Standards editor.

He said his mother had abandoned them so completely, childhood friends were shocked she had not already died.

"Not important?" Dehmalo said to the Daily Mail.

"You could write it all down in a book or turn it into a movie and people wouldn't believe what we went through", he said.

Despite the reaction to the obituary, Jay argued: "it really has helped us to finally get the last word". However they were left out of their grandfather's 1981 obituary. I remember she came home twice and on one occasion she was showing pictures of her and her kids playing cards, drinking beers... "It is like we did not exist".

"Gina and I have been standing within the room, simply standing there and he or she did not even acknowledge us".

Kathleen had returned to Minnesota after Lyle died in 2008.
