Larry Kudlow, a former CNBC host and President Trump's chief economic adviser, has suffered a heart attack, the president tweeted Monday night.

Kudlow, though only on the job since March, has become a popular figure in the White House who is known for gregarious and seasoned manner in an administration frequently riven by rivalries and disputes. "He is now in Walter Reed Medical Center", President Trump wrote on Twitter. He replaced Gary Cohn, who resigned after losing his battle against imposing tariffs on steel and aluminum imports.

He raised eyebrows on Sunday when he described Justin Trudeau as having "stabbed us in the back" at the Group of Seven summit after the Canadian leader said Trump's decision to invoke national security to justify U.S. tariffs was "kind of insulting" to Canadian veterans.

For five years before his White House appointment in March, Kudlow hosted a show on CNBC on business and politics, and he's worked at the Federal Reserve Bank of NY. In return, Trump called the Canadian leader "very dishonest" and "weak", and said the United States would not endorse a joint G7 communique.

Kudlow appeared Sunday on CNN to back up Trump's complaint that he had been blindsided by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's criticism of his tariff threats at a summit-ending news conference.
