  • Мнучин объяснил причину введения новых санкций США против РФ

"The entities designated today have directly contributed to improving Russia's cyber and underwater capabilities through their work with the FSB and therefore jeopardize the safety and security of the United States and our allies", said Treasury Secretary Steven T. Mnuchin.

The sanctions mean that all of the property and interests in property held by the individuals and the businesses will be blocked, and people in the USA will be prohibited from engaging in transactions with them.

The official statement said that these designated entities have provided material and technological support to Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB).

OFAC slapped sanctions on a firm called Digital Security and two subsidiaries for their work on an unspecified project "that would increase Russia's offensive cyber capabilities" for agencies including FSB, the Treasury Department said.

In addition to being barred from the U.S. financial system, the measures mean American citizens and companies can not do business with the Russian entities.

No mention of Russian attacks on US elections was mentioned in the press release.

According to the Treasury Department, the sanctioned firms and individuals are involved in supporting and bolstering the Russian government's offensive hacking activities against the United States and other countries.

The US has imposed another round of sanctions over Russian hacking.

Mnuchin said the U.S.is committed to "aggressively targeting" anyone aiding the FSB, saying the USA would do so under the 2017 sanctions law, known as the Countering America's Adversaries Through Sanctions Act (CAATSA).

The US continues to be at odds with Russian Federation over cyberattacks, including the VPNFilter malware that infected more than half a million routers this year. All three individuals added to the SDN list have been targeted by the U.S. sanctions due to their links to the Divetechnoservice Company, the Russian diving-equipment producer, according to the Treasury. The three Russians charged, Aleksandr Lvovich Tribun, Oleg Sergeyevich Chirikov, and Vladimir Yakovlevich Kaganskiy, all have worked for Divetechnoservices. "Russia has been active in tracking undersea communication cables, which carry the bulk of the world's telecommunications data". Hacks in the runup to the United States presidential election in 2016 are also linked to Russian Federation.
