"We were all anxious about him", says Sheila Donnelly-Coyne, an attorney whose firm, Paige Donnelly, is on the 23rd floor of the UBS building.

Around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, the raccoon did make it onto the roof of the UBS Tower. "It's eating normally", said Christina Valdivia, the company's general manager, who accompanied the technicians to the rooftop.

"I was talking to a wildlife expert yesterday who said there might be a dozen or two dozen of these raccoons in every square mile here in Minnesota - they're everywhere".

It's hoped a live trap on the roof of the building with cat food will lure the raccoon to safety.

The headquarters for Minnesota Public Radio is just across the street, and workers there hashtagged the creature #MPRraccoon, which became Twitter's No. 1 hashtag on Tuesday.

Among those riveted was Suzanne MacDonald, a raccoon behavior expert at York University in Toronto.

Both men laughed when asked if they had managed to get any work done during raccoon-watch.

St. Paul Animal Control believes it may have been there all night before starting its climb.

Images and videos of the raccoon's climb went viral on social media.

At this point, one misstep would cost the raccoon its life. It safely climbed down on its own. "The best thing is to leave him alone".

The adventure started on Monday when, according to one local reporter the raccoon got stranded, "likely on an errant mission to raid pigeon nests".
