  • Los Angeles DA reviewing sexual assault case against Sylvester Stallone

LOS ANGELES: US prosecutors have launched a probe to determine whether film star Sylvester Stallone should be charged in connection with a sexual assault reported past year, a spokesman said Wednesday.

Greg Risling, spokesman for the Los Angeles District Attorney's office, did not give any further details but said the case was presented by police in Santa Monica, California. Media reports from a year ago, however, outline at least two alleged incidents of sexual assault from his past.

The first was said to have happened in the 1990s, but it wasn't reported until late previous year. The DA's office did not specify the timing of the alleged incident or say how long the case would be under review.

The Santa Monica police department said in December it was investigating a report of alleged sexual misconduct by Stallone.

"We have already notified the police that my client wants to file a claim against the woman for filing a false police report", the rep told THR.

"If this is the same woman, he categorically disputes this", Singer said.

"No one was ever aware of this story until it was published today, including Mr. Stallone", spokesperson Michelle Bega told The Daily News past year. "At no time was Mr. Stallone ever contacted by authorities or anyone else regarding this matter". A legal representative for Stallone denied the allegations for a second time on Wednesday.

Attempts to reach his lawyer, Martin Singer, were unsuccessful Wednesday night.
