  • Aston Martin Rapide AMR revealed – UPDATE

The Rapide AMR has a limited production of 210 cars. The AMR badge signifies Aston Martin Racing which is where the inspiration for this special model derives from! The new bonnet, complete with ventilation inserts, is also made from the lightweight material.

Talking about the model, Aston boss Andy Palmer said the model's "enhanced performance, sharper dynamics and more powerful design language... has taken Rapide to new and exciting extremes".

Powering the Rapide AMR is a drivetrain that draws a lot of its technology and potency from the Martin Vantage GT12.

Regardless of the region, however, all Rapide AMRs produce the same 630Nm of torque. The revised tuning to unleash the extra power includes larger inlet manifolds and tuned-length dual inlet runners.

Altogether it's sufficient for 0-60 miles per hour in a mere 4.2 seconds, and a top-speed of 205 miles per hour.

In addition, the stigma attached to mental illness lingers and keeps millions of Americans from the professional help they need. Locally, all we have to do is look at the suicide deaths in our county jails to see a small sampling of a larger problem.

Carbon-ceramic brakes measuring 400 mm up front (with six-piston callipers) and 360 mm at the rear (with four-piston callipers) ship standard, while the new Rapide AMR rides 10 mm lower than the Rapide S, employing "thoroughly re-engineered" three-stage adaptive dampers. The forged multi-spokes have been created to be not only stiff but allow plenty of air to flow through, helping keep the brakes cooling. The new Rapide AMR rides 10mm lower than a Rapide S and although the three stage adaptive dampers remain, they have been thoroughly reengineered to create a vehicle that is more focused, agile and dynamic. Modified brake ducts and dust shields borrow design elements from the Vanquish S, meanwhile, to also aid in keeping temperatures down.

Like other AMR products, the Rapide AMR will be available in three distinct colour schemes, inspired by racing liveries - Standard scheme, Silhouette scheme, and Signature scheme. Standard and Silhouette will be available with four colours, Mariana Blue, Scintilla Silver, Lightning Silver and Onyx Black - the standard scheme gets AMR lime accents.

The Silhouette does without the lime, instead getting a full-length stripe available in either grey or white. Q by Aston Martin, the automaker's bespoke team, is on hand to make any more custom changes.

Inside, the Aston Martin AMR will receive a theme that mirrors the exterior with either AMR Lime or Galena Silver welting and stitching. There is a full-length carbon fibre centre console and the seats are trimmed in Alcantara - both firsts for a Rapide. Every vehicle has discrete AMR logos stitched into the seats in Galena Silver and each auto will come with a limited-edition AMR inspection plaque as well as AMR branding on the carbon sill plaques. Pay a bit more and you can even get a One-77 style steering wheel.

The Aston Martin Rapide AMR will be available worldwide (except Russian Federation and China) from the final quarter of 2018, with prices starting at £194 950 (R3.48 million) ex factory in the United Kingdom; expect to pay about R6 million landed in South Africa.
