On Thursday morning, Melania Trump traveled to Texas to visit detained migrant children and their caregivers at the Upbring New Hope Children's Center.

Mrs. Trump, whose focus is on children, may have helped encourage her husband to act. Maybe she thought she was just wearing a nice, green military jacket. While some insisted the jacket had no other meaning behind it, others pointed out the First Lady often makes deliberate fashion choices.

Melania Trump's communications director, Stephanie Grisham, said in a statement, "It's a jacket".

The first lady met with officials and employees at the facility, where 55 children aged 12 to 17 are housed. Some of the young people were children taken from their parents at the USA border with Mexico. She went straight to the Oval Office to brief the president, who later tweeted that the jacket's message referred to her feelings about the "Fake News Media".

So maybe this was a way of telling her husband: "I really don't care" about how much you want to crack down on the borders; this isn't fair to children. The policy, which aims to bring criminal charges against anyone caught crossing the border illegally, has led to the separation of more than 2,000 immigrant children from their parents. "There's no message. I hope we can talk about her important visit with children today rather than her wardrobe choice".

During her visit today, Trump said she was "looking forward to meeting the children".

The clothing company did not immediately respond to a request from Newsweek to confirm if it made the jacket and, if so, if the first lady was wearing that jacket.

She had changed into more sensible sneakers by the time she got off the plane in Texas but the Twitterverse had a field day sneering. Melania Trump's choice to wear heels during her trip to Texas to survey the response to Hurricane Harvey drew widespread criticism. The words, "Welcome! First Lady" were written in black marker across the red and white bars.

She was engaged and asked questions throughout their discussion, thanking the representatives at the table for treating the immigrant children who have been separated from their families with "kindness" and "compassion".

After the first lady reported the tweet to the Secret Service, Fonda apologized, but there's growing pressure for Sony Pictures to pull his new movie, "Boundaries".
