Current members of the Trump administration have also faced public shame recently.

On Saturday, President Trump's former chief strategist Steve Bannon was shopping at Black Swan Books, an independent bookstore in Richmond, Virginia, when a customer approached him and called him a "piece of trash", according to Richmond Times-Dispatch.

Prior to his resignation last week, former EPA Chief Scott Pruitt was confronted by a teacher who told him he should "resign before your scandals push you out".

Cooke said he called 911 and that the woman left as he made the call.

"Steve Bannon was simply standing, looking at books, minding his own business", Cooke said. "I asked her to leave, and she wouldn't", Nick Cooke, the owner of the store, told the Richmond Times-Dispatch.

Bannon was appointed to the Trump cabinet a year ago on Inauguration Day, and he left office on August 18, 2017, just days after the deadly neo-Nazi attack in Charlottesville, Va.

The confrontation comes weeks after a Lexington restaurant owner declined to serve White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders.
