Haiti civil unrest continues despite fuel hike rollback

The public can call the State Department about US citizens stuck in Haiti at 888-407-4747 from the U.S and Canada, or 202-501-4444 from outside of North America.
The troubles were sparked by a government announcement that gasoline prices would rise by 38 percent, diesel by 47 percent and kerosene by 51 percent starting this weekend.
"We urge USA citizens in Haiti who are safe to contact their loved ones directly and/or update their social media status", the embassy stated.
Volunteer groups from several US states are stranded in Haiti after violent protests over fuel prices canceled flights and made roads unsafe.
