When IHOP first announced they were changing their name to IHOb (International House of Burgers) their patrons, the internet, and their competitors went in on the iconic pancake chain.

The change drew massive backlash on social media with some calling the move an "epic failure".

"We'd never turn our back on pancakes (except for that time we faked it to promote our new burgers)", it read in part.

When the restaurant chain announced 60 cent short stacks, they also fessed up to faking their IHOb name change.

When asked, "didn't go well, huh?" by one Twitter user, the IHOP account responded, "The blan was to get beople talking about our new burgers".

"We're giving away 60¢ short stacks on July 17 from 7a-7p for IHOP's 60th birthday". At the time, a branding expert told FOX Business that the name change was the "dumbest decision ever made in the world of branding". But if you already checked out the burger, and are a fan of that particular dish, the good news is it seems that menu item is at least sticking around.
