A witness describes hearing the woman say "go back to your country, go back to Mexico" as she repeatedly struck Rodriguez in the head with a concrete block. Rodriguez is a legal United States resident, according to Independent.

The other suspects were said to be four black men between the ages of 20 and 30.

"If it wasn't for that lady that helped him, she would've probably killed him", the translator said.

"I'm just overwhelmed how anybody can do this to a human being at all", Mendoza told KCBS-TV. "She see me in my vehicle and walking to me and she told me, 'Oh, what are you doing?"

A woman told CBS Los Angeles a witness said the attackers also began yelling racial slurs. There are no current leads on the three or four male suspects who beat Rodriguez.
