Federer defeated Mannarino 6-0 7-5 6-4 to reach the quarter-final of Wimbledon 2018.

Roger Federer beat Adrian Mannarino on Monday to progress to his 16th quarter-final at SW19.

One more straight-sets win would have Federer eclipsing his previous longest streak at the All England Club, when he won 34 sets in a row between the third round in 2005 and the 2006 final.

Yet Federer quickly snuffed out the danger and broke in the next game before rounding off the match in typically ruthless fashion.

"Just the way he moves, the way he conducts himself on the court is very impressive". "When you watch Federer, it's like the best thing on television". She will follow Federer and Mannarino on to the game's revered home patch against Evgeniya Rodina, and there will be a rare mix of respect and ambition on the other side of the net. "I'm going to have to really take it to him".

An eight-time victor of the men's singles at the All England Club, Federer was an overwhelming favorite against the 22nd seed and never looked like falling victim to a huge upset. So, too, is 19-year-old Denis Shapovalov of Canada. She plays Kiki Bertens first-up on No 2 Court, the victor advancing to the quarter-finals against either Julia Görges or Donna Vekic.

ICC shared a screenshot of the Test batting rankings which showed the 20-time Grand Slam victor Federer as the No. 1 batsmen in the world. But the tournament marked a step forward for each.

He'd never even been past the third round at the grass-court Grand Slam until this year.

Isner added another 22 aces to his tournament-topping tally that now stands at 135 after the ninth seed's 6-4 7-6 (10-8) 7-6 (7-5) triumph over young Greek sensation Stefanos Tsitsipas. "I can only take positives out of this Grand Slam".

Shapovalov's Wimbledon ended in the second round.

After seven years of struggles, Rafael Nadal is finally looking like a contender again at Wimbledon.

It was tennis for the gluttonous: a feast.

Federer over-hit a backhand and when his opponent courteously returned the ball, the eight-time Wimbledon champion elected to display his cricket skills, with a punched forward defence, which didn't go unnoticed by Wimbledon's social media accounts.

'Maybe for the press, maybe for the fans, "Oh, wow, he lost a set".

The eight-time champion earned his latest win with maximum efficiency on Center Court, particularly during a 16-minute first set, where the top-seeded Federer lost just five points. The chair umpire intoned "Game, Federer" so frequently, it began to sound like the refrain of a song.

Hsieh protested, leading the match referee to come on to discuss the decision with the umpire as calls of "replay the point" came from a bemused crowd on Court 18.

"The overall goal is try to win the tournament", the great Spaniard said.
And he won the point 90 percent of the time he landed his first serve.

Was Mannarino intimidated by playing in that hallowed arena? "These are the matches we work so hard for, me and my whole team". "Luckily for me it didn't happen", he said of the tie which preceded his clash with Khachanov.

Nadal, who plays at a slower, more deliberate pace, had no trouble with 93rd-ranked Jiri Vesely either, dismissing him, 6-3, 6-3, 6-4, in less than two hours.

While the men get Tuesday off at Wimbledon, the women return for their quarterfinals.
