Liverpool open Xherdan Shaqiri transfer negotiations with Stoke City

Liverpool have opened talks with Stoke as they look to make Xherdan Shaqiri their latest summer signing.
With Switzerland back from the World Cup after being eliminated by Sweden in the Round of 16, negotiations can progress and Shaqiri "has been considering his options since his involvement in Russian Federation was ended".
Shaqiri does have a release clause but the exact details are unknown at this stage, though the fee is believed to be higher than the widely reported £12m.
Shaqiri is seen as a player who will strengthen Jurgen Klopp's squad by providing quality back-up to an established front three of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Fimino and Sadio Mane and Press Association Sport understands Liverpool have opened talks with Stoke with a view to taking him to Anfield.
