Wimbledon 2018 -- Men's quarterfinal matches

  • Roger Federer was shocked by Kevin Anderson at Wimbledon

The French Open champion skipped playing pre-Wimbledon grass-court tournaments but has found the right gear and is looking capable of reaching the final this year.

Federer had a match point at 5-4 in the third set, but Kevin Anderson-the 6-foot-8 ball smasher from South Africa-saved that break point and went on to win the set.

Anderson used his massive serve to make Federer uncomfortable, gradually gaining confidence with his slices and forehands to combat Federer's defense and shot-making. But there was more.

Funny, sweet conversations on Twitter is not a new thing, but a chat between Swiss tennis star Roger Federer and star Indian Batsman Sachin Tendulkar is something one can not miss.

Djokovic has got his wish as he will take on the world number 24 Kei Nishikori on Centre Court, while Federer will take on Anderson on court number one.

"I guess there are other factors that play in". The 2017 U.S. Open runner-up triumphed in four hours and 14 minutes.

As the fifth set became as much a test of mental strength as anything, from 4-all to 6-all to 8-all to 10-all, Anderson was as steady as he needed to be.

But this time Federer cracked, serving his first double fault at 11-11 to give Anderson the crucial break that ushered the Swiss legend to the exit door.

The shock of the tournament appeared to be edging closer when Anderson moved 30-0 up in the third game, but Federer relied on his serve to salvage a hold, doing the same four games later to dig himself out of another hole after Anderson had also recovered from 30-0 down.

When Anderson broke again in the fourth, Federer was suddenly on the ropes.

"Not only did he battle back from two sets to love down, but it was an overwhelming performance in the opening set from Federer where Anderson didn't really get a look in".

Three-time Wimbledon champion Novak Djokovic has reached his eighth semifinal at the All England club.

"The umpire said he didn't see".

The Wimbledon legend was relegated because Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic were put on Centre Court.

Kevin Anderson, who played at the University of IL, knocked defending champion Roger Federer out of Wimbledon Wednesday.

Not since Wayne Ferreira in 1994 had a South African man made the Wimbledon quarter-finals, but Anderson wasn't overawed by the occasion. The eighth seed sprung a surprise with a 2-6, 6-7 (5), 7-5, 6-4, 13-11 victory.
