Trump will arrive in the United Kingdom on Thursday for a three-day working visit during which he is scheduled to meet with Prime Minister Theresa May and Queen Elizabeth II.

The embassy also warned Americans, however, to "exercise caution if unexpectedly in the vicinity of large gatherings that may become violent".

London Mayor Sadiq Khan has granted permission for a giant inflatable figure depicting Mr Trump as a baby to fly over Westminster for two hours on the second day of the president's visit.

"Give us your tired and your oppressed and we'll divide you from your children", he said of Trump's policies.

However, despite the welcome from May, many Britons remain deeply opposed to Trump's visit.

Tens of thousands are expected to protest against the president in London on Thursday and Friday and in Glasgow on Saturday.

A black-tie dinner will be hosted in Blenheim Palace near Oxford.

The reason President Trump gave for cancelling his visit was his dislike of the relocation of the US Embassy from Mayfair to south London.

Publican Damien Smyth is an unabashed Trump fan and came up with the idea over a few late-night drinks with a friend.

The state visit has never actually been scheduled - there is fierce opposition to it in many quarters of Britain - and this trip is part of a working visit instead, meaning among things that Trump will overnight at Winfield House, the USA ambassador's handsome residence near Regents Park rather than in Buckingham Palace or Windsor Castle as a guest of the queen.

Later, Trump will go to Windsor Castle for tea with the 92-year-old queen.

A working visit - like the one Mr Trump is making - may include some of the same activities as a state visit, but there are small differences.

Mrs May will be seeking to improve her often publicly strained relationship with the USA president as she pushes for a post-Brexit trade deal with the US.

While Mr Johnson may now be a backbencher, Mr Trump said he hoped he would still see the former foreign minister - another blow to the fragile position of Mrs May.

Ahead of Mr Trump's visit, Mrs May said: "As two nations - we are safer, more prosperous and more creative when we work together and I am looking forward to this week's important discussions".
